Our First Harvest (Part 2)

Our group with our first harvest! Ready to make a salad

 Kale harvest
Rye did a pretty good job to stop competition from weeds
Unusual yellowish color for Mustard (Possibly this is a specific trait from the cultivar we used)
 Yellowish Mustard
 Yanlin and Deedee harvest Kale

Our output from our first harvest! =)
Each group member got to take a home a diverse mix of leafy greens from our plot

First Harvest

Deedee, William, and Yanlin harvesting Mustard
Carrots (that were grown in our extra bed) starting to peak through the soil
 William harvesting Kale

 William harvesting Kale
The four rows that we used straw mulch instead of Rye got more weeds and required more hand-weeding

Weeding

The bottom leaves of  some mustard have already turned into yellow . So it's time to harvest.

There were damages in some spinach plants. May be  they need some fertilizer.

The rye between the vegetable rows grew vigorously.

The flowers in the edge of the plot made our garden looks more beautiful.

The kales looks good without the competitence from the weeds after hand weeding.

One part of the plot  (4 rows ) was with the rye.

The other part ( 4rows ) was with straw mulch.

Our garden got pretty weedy but our crops are making great progress

The side with the living mulch is less weedy than the side with the straw mulch
